|Devon Folk is a voluntary, constituted body and is the only county-wide organisation promoting folk activities of all types (song, social dance, ritual dance, mumming etc.). Through a 4 - monthly publication "What's Afoot" (December, April, August) and this website, it provides contact details for clubs throughout the county.
What's Afoot also includes articles, album reviews, lists of bands and callers, advertisements for folk events happening locally and across the country. Devon Folk meets 5 times a year (including the AGM) and organises and supports various events. Funding comes principally from donations, while expenditure includes support for deserving folk causes in the county.
This website is a partnership with FlaxeyGreen and the two sites provide current and comprehensive information about about folk activities in Devon.

“Daytime Dance with a Caller’s Chance”
Fraddon Folk Dance Club is putting on a “Daytime Dance” on Saturday 21st January 2017 at Fraddon Village Hall from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm, with a break for lunch at 12.30 pm. You can come for the morning or the afternoon, or both if you wish.
If you’ve had a secret hankering to call a dance, then now is your chance! Give it a try with your chosen dance to recorded music, again of your choosing, or we can help with suitable dances and music for you to try. You may be a regular caller or just starting out; in any event come along and hone your skills in a friendly and helpful environment.
You may prefer to just dance, which is also fine – after all we can’t do without the dancers! It will be an opportunity to dance to a variety of callers with a mixture of dance styles and types and meet new people from other clubs, as well as catch up with old friends.
We will break during the morning and the afternoon sessions for tea or coffee and a biscuit. If you are staying for the afternoon session you can bring a packed lunch or get something locally nearby from a variety of establishments.
We hope to encourage all forms of folk dancing, attracting dancers and callers alike from throughout Cornwall and Devon. Dispel those winter blues, let’s all have a fun time doing what we do best!
Morning or afternoon sessions will be £2.50 each or £4.00 for the day.
Fraddon is located in the centre of Cornwall on The A30. The SAT NAV for Fraddon Village Hall is TR9 6NT. Detailed directions are available from the Fraddon FDC website .
